Photographer Niklas Meltio visited the city of Marinka in eastern Ukraine on Thursday, where several villages were bombed on Thursday.

Thursday bleached in several villages in eastern Ukraine as grenades exploded. Several news agencies and authorities have reported grenade attacks by Russian-backed separatist forces in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

A photographer working for HS Niklas Meltio is on site in Eastern Ukraine in Marinka. The city belongs to the administrative district of Donetsk.

According to Meltio, 27 grenades were fired at Marinka on Thursday. Most of them hit an old hospital in the city that has been a military base for Ukrainian government forces for years.

“The base has been bombed to the ground,” Meltio says by phone.

European Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) observers reported a number of findings related to grenade attacks between separatist forces and Ukrainian administration forces on Thursday. According to the Reuters news agency, no more detailed information on the attack findings had been received from the observers.

According to locals interviewed by Meltio, Thursday’s bombing was no different than usual.

Julia and her grandmother were on their way home from school on Thursday. Grandmother had gone to get Julia because of the bombing. The banging of grenades does not scare them. They have been experiencing the same for several years.

“The situation has been exceptionally quiet for a couple of months on the eastern front of Ukraine. This day is what has been normal here for eight years. There will be more or less grenades, ”says Meltio.

According to local authorities, the fire destroyed a building in the village of Vrubivka in the Luhansk region.

Bus stop in the morning Valentina Mikhailovna did not have time to see where the grenade fell before its fragment wounded him. The shard pierced Mikhailovna’s hand and scratched his stomach. Mikhailovna, who was interviewed by Meltio, says she will first have to be hospitalized and then rehabilitate her injured hand for several months.

“I heard 27 explosions. Then it became quiet and I went to the bus stop. I am very stressed, ”Mikhailovna told Meltio.

News agencies reported on Thursday the firing of grenades by Russian-backed troops, one of whom had allegedly hit a kindergarten in the village of Stanytsia Luhansk in the Luhansk region. Separatists, on the other hand, have claimed that the kindergarten has been attacked in Ukraine.

In the Luhansk region, Vrubivka village authorities published a picture of a projectile crater in the school yard.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba told the messaging service On Twitterthat the village was attacked in the morning, which also damaged civilian buildings. Reuters also reported eyewitness findings that grenade shooting was heard near Donetsk airport.

On Thursday morning, Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine accused Ukrainian regime forces of opening fire on them. Separatists said Ukrainian regime forces had fired on separatist territory four times in the previous 24 hours.

Valentin, who was out in Milan on Thursday, describes the situation in the city as completely normal.
