In the east In Poland, people are now afraid of a war very close.

“I’m scared and very many others are too. I am also very sad for my Ukrainian friends, ”lives in the eastern Polish city of Rzeszów Jacek Szmatka tells HS on Thursday night.

Szmatka, who works in the IT sector, says that many of his teammates and colleagues are Ukrainian. Connections from Rzeszów across the border to Ukraine are normally close and lively, and the neighbors know each other well. Now the war has spread throughout Ukraine.

Szmatka and his family have come to Rzeszów’s Old Town Square in support of Ukraine. Some of those present are crying, and the atmosphere is extremely serious.

Jacek, Ksawery, Joanna, Klara and Nella Szmatka showed their support for Ukraine on Thursday night in Rzeszów.

Many have Ukrainian flags, but one sign is associated with the Russian president Vladimir Putin and the dictator of Nazi Germany Adolf Hitler face. The sign reads “murderer”.

In Rzeszów has been queuing up at gas stations on Thursday, as Poles are now hoarding it for fear of the effects of the war and expansion.

“I would like to be able to say that I trust NATO,” Szmatka says.

But so far, NATO’s actions have not convinced him. Poland is a member of NATO and there are now a lot of American troops near the border.

Szmatka speaks on Finland.

“It is too late for Finland to join NATO. Putin would do anything to stop it. I don’t want to say what he would do, ”Szmatka estimates.

General the opinion seems to be that Putin is simply sane.

“He’s crazy,” says the 19-year-old Mikolajwho has come with his mother to show his support for Ukraine.

According to him, many in Poland now remember that Poland did not receive help in World War II. Hitler’s Germany murdered millions of Poles.

Mikolajka does not trust NATO, at least 100%.

Mikolaj wanted to do something for Ukraine and came to the demonstration with his mother.

However, according to the trip, there may be hope if this time enough loose sanctions are imposed on Russia.

“If the Kremlin runs out of money, there could be hope.”

Flags for Poland and Ukraine had been united in a protest demonstration on Thursday night in the square in the old town of Rzeszow in eastern Poland.
