HS Helsinki “Fierce week” – Halloween junk is lined up along the streets of Helsinki, a 5-year-old little boy incites an entire neighborhood to a horror trick

Arvo Kaarna is a great Halloween friend, and thanks to that, Tapanila is one of Helsinki’s Halloween centers this year. According to the masquerade movement, this year’s Halloween party is specially dressed up as characters from TV series and movies.

Helsinki In Tapanila, an entire street lives in the hallucinations of Halloween, for a five-year-old Arvo Kaarna got the idea in the fall.

He had already admired the seasonally changing decorations of the neighbor’s balcony in previous years. At times, the balcony had Midsummer maidens, sometimes Christmas lights. Especially on Halloween, the balcony had been handsome in Arvo’s opinion.

What if the whole home street were decorated just as nicely on Halloween, Arvo said.

That’s where it started.

There is a cemetery in the courtyard of Tapan on Halloween.

Arvo Kaarna and his mother Maija Kaarna at first crafting notes asking about their neighbors ’willingness to embark on a Halloween rapture.

Then the mother and son went to drop inquiries into the mailboxes of their neighbors living on Terveystie.

“And some aunts were given patches in their hands,” Arvo recalls.

“There were no negative answers to this idea,” says Maija Kaarna.

The neighbors got excited. The common idea of the “Karmivie Tervieystie” was born.

A ghost monitors the basement door.

Of the last over the weeks the neighborhood has been bustling.

Those interested have made decorations related to the theme, such as ghosts, scary skeletons and bats.

They have been erected along the street, in the courtyards of the residents and in parks such as Stebupuisto. The kindergarten in Impivaara has also been decorated with decorations for the event.

New decorations will appear on the street scene this week every day, but Saturday is the most important day of the celebration in Tapanila. Then a Halloween-themed café and herbal shop will keep their doors open in the residential area.

On Saturday, all the awful decorations are in place.

Saturday children also walk through the doors of the neighborhood in the hope of delicacies.

The children wear costumes, and ask at the doors if candy or a prank would be served.

How was Value thought to dress?

“I am Captain Hook in the form of a ghost,” says five-year-old Arvo Kaarne excitedly.

Residents of the neighborhood hope that Tapanila’s Halloween Street will be explored on foot. The health road is a narrow dirt road that ends, which cannot be accommodated by car.

Halloween is the early ancient Celtic day of the beginning of winter, when the dead were believed to be moving.

In Finland, the popularity of the festival has grown year by year.

Sales director of Punanaamio, which sells fancy dress Kreetta Linnanmäki says Halloween sales have grown significantly in recent years.

According to Linnanmäki, the first customers bought Halloween costumes already in August, but especially this week, so many costumes have been bought that at least the Kalevankatu store has been queued up on the street.

“This week has been pretty wild,” Linnanmäki admits.

“It looks like a record year can be made for sale.”

Why Halloween really appeals to Finns?

“Finns are a gloomy people. Halloween is an easy celebration, as you can dress in gloom and black if you want. But it can also be happier to live, ”says Linnanmäki.

This year, the Red Mask has been asked specifically about masquerade costumes related to television series and movies. Popular costumes have been the Mint TV series coverall and mask, Cruella de Vil costume and Pennywise clown costume.

“Squad Game has also been in demand. We just got masks related to the series, ”says Linnanmäki.
