HS Helsinki Facilities for almost a thousand learners to be added to Tapulika – Construction of Maatulli school, kindergarten and playground will start in August

In the autumn of 2024, a new school building for almost a thousand children and young people will be built in Helsinki’s Tapulikaupunki.

Tapulikaupinin The construction of the new building of Maatull Primary School, Mintu and Neilika kindergartens and the Tapuli playground will start on the Kimnase Trail in August. It is estimated that it will be completed by the end of 2024.

The new building will house an elementary school for about seven hundred students, a kindergarten for about two hundred children, and preschool facilities for 42 students. There will be a playground in the yard of the building, and the yard area is also designed as a learning environment.

Maatulli Primary School and Kindergarten Minttu will operate in the temporary premises of Suuntimopuisto until the new premises are commissioned. Tapuli Playground operates in temporary premises at Kimnaasipolku 7.

The old primary school in Maatulli was demolished for indoor air problems.

Again an architectural competition was held for the school building, which was won by the Danish Fors Blomqvist Architects.

The new building will replace the old Maatull primary school, which was demolished due to indoor air problems. The cost estimate for the entire construction project is EUR 40 million.
