Are you always hung Christmas lights in the same way – to spruce, seeking beauty and symmetry? Understandable, of course quite boring.

Fortunately, there are other solutions. A man from Lauttasaari came up with the idea to grate the lights on the top of a pine tree and aim for height instead of elegance.

The task was not quite easy, as even the most skilled worker cannot climb along the body. Throwing would not have been successful either. So a lift was towed to the scene, which took care of the job.

And there they are now shining, high in about twenty meters. Everyone in the townhouse company is satisfied and proud of their skill.

“The goal was to make them visible all the way to the Western Route. It was a success,” says a neighbor Juho Koillinen.

There are others in the neighborhood the sight feels gratifying. Passers-by regularly guess what the work of art presents. According to the interpretation, at least the reindeer, deer, dog, bison, Kuikka and water tower have been seen at the top of the tree, that is the ancient pride of Lauttasaari.

What’s the truth, Neighbor Koikan?

“The artist himself hoped the work would speak for itself,” Koallinen says and refuses to comment further on his neighbor’s pine.

Pine ended up on social media when a Lauttasaari resident who was walking in the North Arctic in the evening photographed it and posted the picture to the Lauttasaari group on Facebook. In Some, woodpecking has gained widespread appreciation.

“No company missing”, notes one.

“Atmosphere at its highest”, praises another.

“Well, no one might be knocking them out right away.”, points out the third.

Of course, the Christmas pine has also been bet on as a techie. This is sharply disputed by Koikan.

“We were serious, but with a sense of humor.”

What about when the days after christmas start to get longer, will a crane be needed for the Arctic again?

“No,” Koikan says.

The idea is left to shine, he assures.

“They won’t be taken down. The lights have been in place in our company all year round, they have been there for a couple of years now, ”says Koallinen.

The co-operation between Lauttasaari pine and the passenger crane may also continue, as another local resident was enthusiastic about the idea based on the Finnish.

“Should we speak at our company’s board meeting next, we have a really handsome six in the yard.”
