Thus, the members of the jury, chosen by invitation from ABC, are the most important media outlets in Spain, who designate their team representative as a jury to vote among the 12 chosen models.
These are both general media, the most important in their territory and area of influence, and specialized media, print, digital and television media.
These twelve candidates will be presented next Wednesday, November 13, through a “Party of the Chosen”, where each of the representatives of the nominated brands will defend the benefits of their model. These are the Alfa Romeo Junior, Audi A3, Citroën C3 –and its 100% electric variant ë-C3–, Cupra Terramar, Dacia Duster, Fiat 600 –and pure 600e variant–, Lexus LBX, Nissan Qashqai, Omoda 5, Peugeot 3008 –also with electric version e-3008–, Renault 5 and Toyota C-HR.
Next, ABC will open a website under the name “mejorcoche.abc.es” on Thursday, November 14 at 9:00 a.m. in the morning of 2024, until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024, where The rules of the award, the candidates, the technical characteristics of the models competing, the composition of the professional Jury and the voting system that the non-professional jury must follow through the website will be available to everyone.
The Jury will be divided into a professional jury and a non-professional jury: ABC Premium subscribers and registered users of the ABC website. The determination of the winning car will result from the combination of the votes of the juries so that the percentage of the weight of the vote of the result of the professional vote is 70%, the subscribers 25, and that of the registered users, 5 %.
The readers’ vote is also governed by rules. Thus, each registered user will be able to vote once a day during the voting period. For their part, ABC Premium subscribers will be able to vote only once in the entire contest, according to the rules available on the website.
And as far as the professional is concerned, each member of the jury must send their vote by email, to the address of the Madrid Notary Mr. Miguel Mestanza Iturmend, within the period indicated.
It will have to be assessed in each of the parameters of design, engine, behavior, interior, consumption and quality/price ratioscoring 13 points for the best car, 11 for the next, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point.
Given all this, it is prohibited to give the highest (13) or lowest (1) score to the same model in all parameters. In this sense, only the maximum (13) or minimum (1) score can be given to the same model in a maximum of 4 parameters, understanding that it is implausible for a model to be the best (or the worst) in all the parameters. to qualify.
In the event that it is verified by the notary that any of the jurors has not awarded the total number of points in accordance with the previous criteria, the jury member will be informed so that they can correct their vote within the period indicated. If the vote is not corrected within said period, the vote of said jury will be eliminated in its entirety and will not be taken into account for the final count.
Likewise, ABC reserves the right to expel, with justification, a member of the jury if it considers that the vote has been used unethically. In the event of a tie in the result of the vote by the Professional Jury, the models will be ordered by first considering the brand vehicle that has obtained the greatest number of maximum scores (that is, 13 points). If when applying the first tie-breaking criterion this is maintained, the greatest number of votes of 11 points will be considered and so on until the tie is broken.
Likewise, in the event that a member of the jury submits more than one vote, only the last one will be taken into account.
Finally, the Notary will record the results of the voting on December 11, granting the award to a single model.
The ABC Award for Best Car of the Year will be unique and final and will consist of an honorable mention, and the delivery of a symbolic physical Award, without financial remuneration. The award ceremony will be organized later.
