Stable union at the registry office
By formalizing this type of relationship in a notary’s office, it is possible to have the same rights as a marriage in the partial community of property regime. Which means that everything the couple builds or acquires during the period they are together will be divided in the event of separation.
It is also possible to opt for another stable union regime, but the information on which regime will be adopted must be in the contract signed between the two parties.
The documents required in this case are:
- CPF;
- ID;
- Proof of residence;
- Civil Status Certificate (issued within 90 days).
Upon registration, the couple’s marital status remains unchanged, being recognized as single.

It is possible to register the stable union contract in a notary’s office, however the document is not mandatory for the relationship to be recognized. Other clues can help give legal support to a couple’s stable condition.
Proof of the couple’s common assets, the existence of children and other evidence of family constitution are also indications of a stable union.

- Treatment form at a medical care institution in which the insured person is responsible;
- Deed of purchase and sale of property by the insured on behalf of the dependent;
