How much nostalgia for Milan and Jannacci’s football
In the mid-Augustan television void, except for the political talks in view of the elections on 25 September, as for some years now, the Rai Techetecheté program reawakens the memory of viewers with cameos from yesteryear. A sublime representation of the Italian society of the last 60 years. Here is the usual passatista, some would say. Passatista certainly, of brilliant artists. Inserted in this debate, a football / musical / artistic comparison springs to mind in “rossonera sauce”. Football, the real one, from the 70s / 80s / 90s, and the “modern” football, the new entertainment ball.
The first, in short, Football, was that of Sunday rituals, of historic jerseys with colors that have always been the same for decades, of 90 minutes, of All football minute by minute, of the DS, of Moviola, of the stands with concrete steps armed. In that Football AC Milan 1899 had artistic “representatives” as its “representatives”musicians, writers, the various, Enzo Jannacci, Beppe Viola, Renato Pozzetto, Teo Teocoli, Diego Abatantuono, or “the Derby group”, a Milanese cabaret club forge of artists who have become icons of cinema, theater, music.
The Derby symbol of Milanese style, also imported (see Abatantuono). Artists who represented an identity, a culture, values and traditions of an Italy that no longer exists. Enzo Jannacci the “group leader” together with the prematurely deceased Beppe Viola, Rai journalist but also and, above all, screenwriter, writer, humorist, sublime composer, he was the emblem of that Milan “casciavit” worker, tenacious, proud, adored and loved by his fans. He was also the author of the Milan anthem at the time of president Farina. Years of “hard bread”, of little satisfaction, of two years in cadet, but with an unparalleled passion (Jannacci always present in San Siro to support “his Milan“).
To understand Jannacci’s genius it is enough to cite some of his songs, read the lyrics; pure poetry. And the fans, proud of that “fan artist”, identified themselves fully in that jersey, in that glorious, albeit “shaky” club, led by presidents with many problems. He was the symbol of working Milan ( of those who “turn el cu to Milan, turn el cu to pan”), large factories, workers’ struggles, genius and rebellion. And if “off the pitch this was represented by the” Jannacci group “, on the pitch the emblem could only be the Captain Gianni Rivera, “pure Milanism”. They come in good times and bad times.
From the triumphs of Wembley and Madrid to the struggles against the “Palazzo” of Soccer which detested Milan and its rebellion to injustices, abuses, arbitration wrongs, to “fatal Verona”. This is what football was, Milan, and who represented it on and off the pitch. Now that it is no longer football, even the emblems and symbols are homologated to the modernity of the ball game, to the “confetto” stadiums, to shirts with psychedelic colors that have nothing traditional, no longer long sleeves, with a stew calendar in television servitude, and loyal fans. Consequently, those who represent them on and off the field are homologated to the new reality. The players “rebel” and “fight” for a few million euros in bonuses more and then, after two seasons (sometimes only one) they say goodbye and land in more generous “shores” and kiss the new jersey.
The interviews with the press are organized on a pre-set “plot” (unthinkable interviews on trams and on snow-covered streets) of an oleographic world. Off the pitch, the new fan emblems are singers with millions of “followers” generated by social media who in their lyrics manifest the rebellion as follows: “… it’s a black eye that turns blue (sto), and the middle finger stays on … “. Or, “… I want it complete and with the harissa. Such a big ass conquers me …”. Yes, today “… the middle finger stays on” and “a big ass wins me over …”, yesterday, however, “… and it will still be nice when Milan win …” or “… I’d like to sing a clever song that follows an important logical thread … “. Here, in fact, an important logical thread …
