More than a century after the tragic sinking of the Titanica new Photography has emerged. This black and white image, taken by John Snow Jr. aboard the ship CS MacKay-Bennett, captures a iceberg which is believed to be the responsible of the shipwreck.
John Snow Jr., chief embalmer at John Snow & Co., captured the image two days after the Titanic disaster, during the body recovery mission in the North Atlantic. This photo, simply titled “Titantic“(sic), has remained hidden until now and is scheduled to be auctioned by Henry Aldridge & Son Auctioneers in Devizes, Wiltshire.
The Photography It is estimated that it could fetch between 4,000 and 7,000 pounds at auction, an approximate figure of 150 thousand Mexican pesos. Although it cannot be definitively confirmed that this iceberg be the one that collided with the Titanic, it is not ruled out that this glacier was the culprit.

This is not the first time that a photograph of the iceberg that sank the Titanic. In 2020, another image sold for $45,000 (more than 770 thousand pesos), accompanied by geographic coordinates that closely match the location of the shipwreck.
This image was taken two days before the Titanic collided with an iceberg. This photograph has an annotation with the coordinates of where the iceberg was located: 41°50 N 49°50 W, and the date of April 12 at 4:00 p.m. :00 hours. The exact coordinates of the Titanic are 41.7325° N, 49.9469° W., very close to where this photo was taken.
Although the iceberg in Snow Jr.'s photograph is not yet confirmed as the true protagonist of the Titanic disaster, the appearance of this photograph offers an intriguing window into the past.
