According to figures collected by the most recent United Nations reportpresented on August 22, since the beginning of the war between Russia and Ukraine, 13,477 civilian victims have been recorded on Ukrainian soil: 5,587 dead and 7,890 wounded.

The balance of deceased speaks of 2,161 men, 1,490 women, 149 girls and 175 boys, as well as 38 children and 1,574 adults whose sex is still unknown.
For its part, as for the wounded, there are 1,603 men, 1,190 women, 172 girls and 236 boys, as well as 202 children and 4,487 adults of still unknown sex.

When analyzing the problem according to the territories in which the confrontations take place, it can be confirmed that the hardest hit areas are the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, with 7,620 affected: 3,317 dead and 4,303 injured.
It is followed by the territories controlled by the government: 3,015 dead and 3,130 wounded, and then the territories controlled by the Russian armed forces and affiliated armed groups: 302 dead and 1,173 wounded.
And finally, other regions of Ukraine that were under government control when the casualties occurred: 2,270 dead and 3,587 wounded, respectively.

Much of the casualties were caused by explosive weapons of expansive damage such as heavy artillery bombardments, multiple missile launches and general airstrikes.
However, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) warns that the figures may be higher because there are still reports pending validation.
