Stefano Tacconi talks about his battle after the aneurysm and the fundamental support of his family
Stephen Taconia well-known former goalkeeper for Juventus and the Italian national team, was a guest on Domenica In, the program hosted by Mara Venier, where he shared his difficult recovery journey after a brain aneurysm that struck him in 2022. During the interview, Tacconi recounted the dramatic events of that day, when, while attending a charity event in Asti, he began to feel a strong headache. This symptom turned out to be a sign of a cerebral hemorrhage.
His son Andreapresent at the time, played a crucial role in his rescue, performing the first aid maneuvers and positioning the father appropriately until the ambulance arrived. The goalkeeper underwent two operations and, after a long period in comawoke up 15 days later. From that moment, he began a long and demanding rehabilitation phase that, to this day, continues to present daily challenges. Despite the progress, the former goalkeeper explained that he still has motor difficulties and to depend on a crutch to walk, especially because his right leg is still unstable.
His wife was also present in the studio with him, Laura Hopeand her son Andrea, who have provided unconditional support during this difficult period. Laura recalled the day she received the news of her husband’s illness, underlining how dramatic it was to face that moment. She shared how the family remained united, supporting each other, while her husband faced a long hospitalization that lasted 9 months at Alexandria and 3 to Milan.
During the interview, Tacconi also wanted to pay homage to Toto Schillacia friend and colleague who recently passed away. He described the strong bond that united them and the pain of losing someone who meant a lot to him. Despite the difficulties and challenges he still faces, Stefano Tacconi continues his recovery journey. He is dedicating himself to physiotherapy with the aim of returning to normality, supported by the affection of his family and the warmth of the fans who have always supported him.
