Alan Rickman’s performance is remembered by many of the fans and today it is difficult to imagine anyone else in the enigmatic role.
Why didn’t Alan Rickman want to be in Harry Potter?
According to Chris Colombus, director of the first two Harry Potter films, it was a difficult task convincing stars like Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall) and Richard Harris (Dumbledore) to be part of the project.
JK Rowling already had several faces in mind to bring her characters from the book to the big screen and one of those was Alan Rickman.

That is why JK Rowling herself had to reveal to Alan Rickman an important fact about the plot that completely changed her position.
“He told him something about what was going to happen to Snape throughout the series and in the seventh book”Columbus noted.
And that was what made Snape agree.
This even led to Rickman making some gestures in his performance when looking at Potter, which the director did not understand at the time.
