Hospitals in the Bible Belt want patients back nationwide
Corona patients must be spread nationally again, hospitals in Ede and Tiel say. Which writes Omroep Gelderland Tuesday. The hospitals have been confronted with an increase in corona patients for a week. Last Monday, the National Coordination Center for Patients Spread decided correctly to stop spreading patients between regions.
The hospitals are located in the so-called Bible Belt, a region with a low vaccination coverage. The number of infections has been rising there since a week. Hospitals say that their wards are filling up and are therefore appealing to the solidarity of hospitals that suffer from less care pressure.
“It’s not that busy in all regions and the idea is that we share the pain fairly. You saw that in the other waves too, and then we also took over patients from other regions. We again appeal to that solidarity: now we need it,” a spokesman for the Gelderse Vallei hospital in Ede told Omroep Gelderland.
