Hospitals can catch up on delayed care
Minister Ernst Kuipers (Public Health, D66) has withdrawn phase 2d in healthcare, which means that hospitals can start catching up on delayed care. According to Kuipers, the focus is initially on “ic-dependent critical care that can be planned.”
Phase 2d was announced at the end of November, as hospitals overflowed with corona patients. It is the final stage before stage 3, which is more commonly known as ‘code black’. In phase 2d, the hospitals postponed planable care and operations as much as possible. The National Acute Care Network had asked the ministry to withdraw phase 2d again, because the number of corona patients in hospitals continues to decrease.
It has been agreed that it can be scaled up to 1,200 IC beds within three days if the corona situation should get out of hand again.
