The Horner case
It is no mystery that Formula 1 is dealing with what is happening within the Red Bull team and the internal power struggles that emerged following the case of alleged harassment perpetrated by Christian Horner against one of his employees.
Although the British team principal emerged unscathed from the internal investigation, the issue appears to be far from resolved. The latest news confirms last Sunday's meeting in Dubai between the Thai majority owners led by Chalerm Yoovidhya and the CEOs of the Austrian side Oliver Mintzlaff and Franz Watzlawick. However, nothing – almost surprisingly – was revealed about the outcome of the meeting.
Wolff's insinuation
During an interview given to oe24, Toto Wolff from Mercedes also spoke about what is happening in the rival team: “From the outside you can see a lot of drama and for a team like Red Bull such a situation is not the best. We live in a very transparent world and if something isn't said, it only becomes more interesting, giving rise to even more stories and speculation.”
Wolff then asked a question: “In the background of this story is the real question. Because a woman who felt uncomfortable turned to HR (human resources, ed.)? Why hasn't this been talked about? Plus there's a communication strategy that seems a bit confusing. How come? I think Austrians are professional, while in England they always try to downplay it. And today it is no longer possible to do so.”
