The Horner case continues to hold sway
While waiting for Max Verstappen to join him with four championships won, perhaps already this year, Sebastian Vettel currently remains the most successful driver in the history of Red Bull. It is therefore understandable that the German champion, who abandoned Formula 1 at the end of the 2022 season, was also asked for a opinion on the delicate and controversial matter that is affecting the Milton Keynes team and above all his former team principal Christian Horner.
The English manager was acquitted – not without controversy and suspicion – from the internal investigation carried out by Red Bull into conduct “transgressive and inappropriate“. However, the legal matter is currently moving forward in other ways Horner himself is at the center of a complex power war which involves the Austrian and Thai branches of the energy drink giant. Speaking into the microphones of Sky Sports UK during a long interview Vettel himself underlined how the whole story is very opaque and complex and how more transparency would be needed by the reigning world champions to be able to express sensible assessments on what happened.
Little transparency
“There has been a lot of talk about this since the beginning of the year and it is very difficult to know everything about these things. It would be nice if there was simply more transparency, so that we can form an opinion. I think it's always difficult when you read one thing, then a different thing and then the opposite. Now it's going around in circles. The sad thing is that Max is doing a great jobmany members of the team – who I still remember from when I raced there – are doing a great job behind the scenes and this is overshadowed“, commented Vettel.
