Horizon Forbidden West registered a 94% increase of copies sold in the UK in the last week thanks to new stock of PS5 arrived in the last few days.
This detail comes from GamesIndustry’s weekly report on the English retail market, this time published with a slight delay compared to the GfK sales ranking, which we published on our pages yesterday.
Horizon Forbidden West finished second, maintaining the position obtained the previous week, but in fact registering a significant increase in sales of 94%. This is an anomalous case given that the latest effort by Guerrilla Games has been available in stores for several months, explained precisely by the new PS5 stocks arrived in the days and which are yet another sign that the availability of the flagship console Sony is gradually improving in Europe, although we are still a long way from an optimal situation.
The boost received thanks to the new PS5 stock, however, was not enough for Horizon Forbidden West to conquer the top of the standings, where instead we find F1 22 in its debut week.
In this regard, from the data of GamesIndustry we learn that the new racing game by Codemasters and Electronic Arts is only sixteenth in the ranking of the best debuts of the series in the United Kingdom, behind Formula One 2001 and F1 2021. In part this figure is justified by the increasing number of purchases made digitally, given that the rankings drawn up by GfK only take into account retail copies .
However, F1 remains among the most profitable brands in the UK. Looking at retail sales alone, the series has generated revenue for over 205 million pounds and is 23rd in the ranking of the highest grossing brands in the UK.
