Around nine homicides per day are registered in the state of Jalisco, this according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System that also indicated that May was the most violent month of 2021, with 270 murders, which means that, per day, on average 9 people died violently.
Of the total of victims, 105 were riddled with firearms and in 14 cases a sharp object was used to deprive the person of life, the rest were classified as culpable homicides.
February ranks second with 251 murders; in 119 cases a pistol was used to kill while 14 were stabbed to death.
January is in third place with 248 homicides, of which 158 were intentional, in 95 firearms were used and in 12 a knife.
It was 240 in March and 229 in April. The violence that the state is experiencing is a consequence of the criminal struggles between the Jalisco Cartel and other organizations such as the Sinaloa Cartel.
The Justice for Peace Center indicated that as of May 31, 2020, in the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences there were 6,249 unidentified bodies and an unquantified number of anatomical sections, that is, dismembered corpses.
The same organization indicated that there are only 10 convictions for the crimes of forced disappearance, a reflection of the impunity with which criminals operate in Jalisco.
Similarly, the three forensic pantheons of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area are saturated with unidentified human remains. In the holy field of El Salto, the 500 drawers that the state government acquired to deposit the remains of the NN are full, another reflected more of the violence that reigns in Jalisco.
