Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software have released a new behind-the-scenes video of Hogwarts Legacy, the Harry Potter RPG due out next year on consoles and PC. “Making the Music” shows details of the creation of “Overture to the Unwritten” and other songs that will be featured in the game. In “Making the Music” the Hogwarts Legacy team of composers and producers take fans behind the scenes, giving them a glimpse into the decision-making processes and complexity involved in creating a new orchestral piece set in the wizarding world of the 1800s. Peter Murray talks about how the team balanced this new original composition with music from the films.
To create the ancient Hogwarts melody the team used unusual tools such as the ‘thunder slab’, a huge piece of metal, and a water phone. For the chorus and orchestra of the main theme “Overture to the Unwritten” students from the University of Utah, BYU and the Salt Lake Symphony Orchestra were chosen, as well as artists such as Nicole Pinnell, Nicole Klossner, Ryan Shupe, Abe Kaelin , Bart Olson, John Knudsen and Dune Moss. Filmed at the music studios of Big Idea in Sandy, Utah and Media Grabbers in North Salt Lake City, Utah, the behind-the-scenes video features “Overture to the Unwritten,” the original composition by composers Chuck and. myers “sea”, J. Scott Rakozy and Peter Murray performed by a 54-piece orchestra conducted by Nathan Hofheins.
All Hogwarts Legacy music will be available on launch day in the Hogwarts Legacy (Original Video Game Soundtrack). Additionally, songs from Hogwarts Legacy will be featured on a second album titled Hogwarts Legacy (Study Themes From the Original Video Game Soundtrack), which will feature relaxing ambient music, to listen to while studying for lessons at Hogwarts or any other school. Both albums will be released by WaterTower Music and will be available on all digital streaming services. Hogwarts Legacy will be available on February 10 on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, later on Switch.
