Hockey Tiia Hurme conjures up high-skilled skaters from Leijon – at the same time ending the constant acidification of the thighs

When the puckers arrive in the training of figure skating coach Tiia Hurme, the biggest change usually comes to the position and posture.

Figure skating coach Tiia Hurme makes magic hockey economical and light.

Hurme, who has a competitive skating background, has been collaborating as a puck influencer for six years Ismo Lehkonen with coaching puck stars and young pitchers to chase their dreams.

The use of blades and economical skating have been practiced by famous puck stars.

Lion’s pack, two-time world champion and Olympic winner with Hurme and Lehkonen in summer Mikko Lehtonen as well as NHL hockey players Mikko Rantanen, Artturi Lehkonen, Rasmus Ristolainen and Kaapo Kakko.

“It is very popular in the world that the tops of the sport go through the use of blades and weight transfer specifically with a figure skating coach. When the skating is okay, then you don’t get tired and you have more time on the field to follow the game and think of solutions. Economical skating brings a huge advantage – when you have a slide, you don’t need so much power, ”says Hurme.

Hockey players upon arrival in the figure skating coach’s lesson, the biggest change usually comes from posture and posture.

The head should stay between the shoulders to make the skating balanced.

“I almost always have to be the first to tackle the skating position. Hockey players are usually taught to skate with their buttocks down, which speeds up their thighs very quickly and the skating takes up a huge amount of energy.

Tiia Hurme and former Liiga hockey player, current coach Jonne Virtanen, are researching the helmet.

“You only learn to skate by skating on ice, there is no shortcut, you need repetitions. In order to make skating energy efficient, you need a good position where you can play and see the field. Skating can be made easier by doing the right thing. It’s a glide, you have to remember to know and take advantage of the swing. ”

“I can skate for at least six hours on the tube, but if I run two miles, I’m just punctured and every place is ruined,” Hurme laughs.

So Hurme stays on time, he regularly visits Canada to learn from the local maestro.

“Now that Korona was finally relaxed and I was able to travel again, I went to Montreal and Vancouver to watch the skating workouts there and learn more. There are always new fresh ideas and you get a different perspective on what you do when you sometimes smell the wind elsewhere, ”says Hurme.

Disc and skating camps employ Hurme and Lehko, the summer is spent in the halls of the hall hidden from daylight.

Turku Varissuo has a rock cave dug to a depth of forty meters with a two-lane ice rink.

The hall called “Vakk” is run and maintained by the City of Turku. When other halls in the summer suffer from the heat brought by the sun, the ice in the earth’s veins is and remains in good condition.

“There’s absolutely great ice here that’s nice to skate on,” Hurme glows.

The hall staff uses a new type of spraying system and it improves the condition of the ice.

“The idea is to freeze the water mist in small layers with hot water, so that no air enters the water. The ice will be durable, slippery and clear, ”says Mika Wikström from the City of Turku’s Sports Services.
