Familiar the teams will face each other when Finland faces the semi-finals of the Slovak Olympic hockey.

In the initial series, Lions won 6–2, but that game has been erased from the archives.

Finland scored six goals when the puck seemed to bounce appropriately from the first moments.

In the evening of six goals, a young Slovak striker scored Juraj Slafkovsky to hit two goals. All that was known was that Slafkovsky will play in the League at the Turku Ball Club, and he will be one of the top names in next summer’s NHL booking ceremony.

Before the semifinals, only 17-year-old Slafkovsky leads the Olympic paint exchange with five hits together in Sweden Lucas Wallmarkin with.

Winger Harri Pesonen riveted the Lions 2–1 goal in the opening game of the Olympics. Against Sweden, Pesonen settled overtime, but the Slovak players belong to him in a series of unknowns.

Have you ever heard of Juraj Slafkovsky before these races?

“Onks it’s their cage buddy. I hadn’t heard of a friend, but well the boy has put the puck in the finish line. It is in this that we see that they have the skills and creativity to make a difference, ”says Pesonen after the Lions’ relaxed exercise.

“It’s a tough amount. You have to take your thoughts away from your son. ”

From the mason a native of Pesonen, 33, begins to wonder where he was at the age of 17 and what kind of player he was at the time.

“I was such a gambler that I had nothing to do with men’s games back then. A performance worth hat-raising in the sense that Slafkovsky is able to play so well at this level. ”

Pesonen rose from Jyväskylä’s JYP to the League, but at a slightly slower pace than the more than 190-centimeter Slovakian.

“I was on the D-team at the time. Yes, I was playing at A-juni when I was 17, to my knowledge. Or after all, in B-juni. ”

Pesonen grew calmly in the league and the Lions. It wasn’t until he was 20 that he played more league matches at JYP than games on the youth or Mestis ’D-team.

In the lions Pesonen is a rare player in that he will only be playing his second value tournament on the A national team at the age of 30. The first ended in World Cup gold in 2019.

“There are these little different crutches [kuin MM-kisat]. There are probably fewer games and there are fewer teams, or is there. At least it feels like that. After all, these are great places to get into big games with big stakes. ”

In addition to the World Cup gold, Pesone has two Finnish championships in JYP, in 2009 and 2012. In Switzerland, he plays for the seventh season, but there the championships have turned elsewhere.

Yet The Lions have won nothing and not even secured a medal. Pesone has a clear idea of what needs to be done in the semi-finals that the journey continues into the final.

“The first match for both was the opening game of the tournament and the game for both has probably changed and developed,” says Pesonen.

“[Slovakia on] a dangerous team that got pretty much created seats against us. That game was just damn effective. It was reflected in the result. ”

“I think in the semi-finals the defense will be more tested and it’s very interesting to see. They have a good flow on it. ”

Finland and Slovakia will meet in the Olympic semi-finals on Friday morning at 6.10. Discovery and TV5 show the game live.
