HIFK was finished in Tampere.

Ilves – HIFK 3–2 vl

HIFK received a lesson in Tampere that hockey is a goal – setting game. The people of Helsinki clearly dominated the match from time to time, but only one point went in when Ilves won the match’s 3–2 victory goal competition.

The actual game time fights were recorded at 37–14, and by Ilves Vadim Zerenko was more of a rejected party. The points were still solved according to a long formula.

Opening lot the only goal scored by Ilves Matias Mäntykivi, who shot from the force attack to the goal of the puck, past HIFK with a goal Niilo Halonen.

In the second set, HIFK took more grip on the game. The goalkeeper of the lynx Vadim Zerenko however, kept his goal intact until the last five minutes of the batch. The facilitating handicap was made by HIFK with superiority when Otto Paajanen guided the puck right next to Žerenko into the net Yohann Auvitun hard feed in time 35.39.

Paajanen has been playing effectively lately. The goal was the sixth point of the center for three games.

Despite the equalization, Ilves went on another break in the lead. Striker Joonas Oden was the first to catch the bounce puck behind the HIFK defense when the Helsinki defenders played as a pair of defenders Johan Motin and Kasper Kotkansalo failed to play the witty Odenia out of the situation. The hard shot passed Halonen.

HIFK cannot be blamed for the lack of shots. Žerenko accumulated two fights in two batches and some of the shots from Helsinki also ended up in the blocks of the Ilves defenders.

HIFK’s A 2-2 draw could be expected midway through the final round. Miro Väänänen guided the disc fired by Motin from the air past Žerenko. The lead paint from HIFK got to try a few minutes later Olli Palola, whose shot passed through the goal.

However, no extra goals were seen in the actual playing time and without a hit there was also a five-minute overtime. The only hit in the winning goal competition was shot by Ilves Les Lancaster.
