In an interview with Sky News Arabia, the sources warned that the Iranian militias’ goals may reach US military installations, black American interests inside Iraq or the countries surrounding it, or targets of the Iraqi government.
The sources stated that the scenario and timing of the attack on Al-Kazemi push the first finger of accusation at Iran’s militias, as it possesses drone technology, improves its capabilities technically, and uses it in many tasks as a “essential weapon” outside Iranian territory.
The sources pointed out that there are fears that the assassination attempt will be the beginning of a tolerable breakthrough for the Iranian militias that aim to stop Iraq’s efforts to get out of Tehran’s mantle, and obstruct the Iraqi government’s work to restore Baghdad as a strategic balance point in the Middle East.
Drones
The UN sources reported that Tehran had previously provided the Houthis with unmanned aircraft, which constituted an important operational test for it, to expand its use in a later period.
The sources pointed out that Iran’s next goals in Iraq are to carry out retaliatory operations from the Iraqi government or the American presence, through its proxies in Iraq, to attack Turkey or its bases inside Iraq, claiming that it is securing its borders against terrorist risks.
In his television appearance after the incident, Al-Kazemi directed an indirect accusation of attempting to assassinate him against an Iraqi political and military party, and said that it was “an internal party, not an external one” and “a party with a political project and a partner in the political process.”
A proxy war
Major General Mahmoud Mansour, head of the Arab Society for Strategic Studies, comments on the attempt to assassinate Al-Kazemi as an affirmation that Iraq has become a “theatre for proxy war”, with Iran clinging to it, Iraq striving to become regional powers again, and international efforts to disarm Baghdad from Tehran.
In an exclusive interview with Sky News Arabia, Mansour explained that Iraq is preparing to move on the right path through joint Arab cooperation and the expulsion of Iranian militias and other forces hostile to stability in Iraq.
The strategic expert points out that there is an Arab keenness to integrate with Iraq and work jointly with it in the coming period, which should be exploited, given that the state of chaos and terrorism is expanding rapidly and its danger is transmitted from one country to another.
ISIS danger
The sources, who spoke to Sky News Arabia, explained that there are some forces working to revive ISIS inside Iraq, and support its remnants to organize it, which is what the Iraqi security services monitor.
The sources indicate that Iraq receives extensive security and information support from the United States and other countries, to prevent the return of ISIS again, while training Iraqi security forces to take charge of protecting important figures in Iraq.
The sources stress the existence of an international agreement on the importance of deterring and obstructing Iranian interference in Iraq as much as possible without direct confrontation, while exploiting security and diplomatic cooperation to thwart plans to destabilize Iraq.
Threatening neighboring countries
The sources continued to talk about Iranian threats to Iraq, saying that they include the possibility of expanding militia activity to neighboring countries for Iraq, and escalating Tehran’s movements for what it describes as “the campaign to expel America from Iraq and the Middle East.”
The sources point out that there is an American fear of the Iranian regime’s attempt to exploit Iraqi and Syrian lands to carry out future attacks against Israel, through “proxy war” by Iranian militias.
The sources expected that Israel would launch air attacks against Iranian elements or supported by them on the Iraqi and Syrian parties if it detected indications of intentions or plans to be attacked.
