The 2020/21 annual report highlights that the game has sold 300% more than its predecessors.
The financial reports of the video game companies are full of figures that are generally very boring for the players, but breaking them down they always leave us either new announcements, or very relevant data. The latter is what we check if we take a look at the information of IO Interactive corresponding to fiscal year 2021, which stars Hitman 3.
At document It stands out that the latest installment starring Agent 47 has been remarkably successful. Specifically, the third part has sold 300% more than its predecessors, far exceeding the original budget that it cost to develop the title. Something to celebrate for a studio that decided to go independent after ending its relationship with Square Enix.
This commercial success has turned IO Interactive’s fiscal year 2021 into the best in its history. They have achieved their most profitable period yet, with earnings that continue to drive their growth strategy. Gamers are generally happy with the direction they are taking, although they have recently harshly criticized the use of DRM in GOG.
The Hitman saga, meanwhile, seems to be aiming for a well-deserved break. IO Interactive is working on Project 007, a title that will bring back James bond to the videogames. But the thing does not stop there, since a few months ago we were able to confirm that another game, with an unknown identity until now, is also in development.
