Italian motorists are preparing to deal with a increase in motorway tolls. The CEO of Autostrade per l’Italia, Roberto Tomasi, announced: “In the motorway system, increases have tended to be 0.85% on average per year over the last 5 years with inflation exceeding double figures. So we are going to have a moderate increase with respect to the needs of the country”.
Tolls on motorways increase
Answering a question about the possible increase in tolls, the CEO of Aspi added: “Today we remember that the tolls of the Italian system they are the lowest in Europe and that infrastructures have always been built without weighing on general taxation and therefore without weighing on the state debt. They are economic models that work today“.
Tomasi’s announcement
Tomasi was the protagonist of the celebration of the centenary of the inauguration of the Milan-Varese motorway, which was also attended by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Matthew Salvini. “In the next few weeks we will open the Milan-Lodi construction site on the A1, so as to be ready to expand another important axis of our country – concluded the CEO of Aspi – We hope to open all the other construction sites in the coming months, a topic on which we discuss daily with Minister Salvini”.
