The water concessionaire opens offices on Calle del Carmen to offer a “more direct and barrier-free” service to the elderly and vulnerable
Hidrogea, the water concessionaire in Cartagena, reinforces its customer service with offices on the ground floor of Casa Dorda, on calle del Carmen, number 55-57, inaugurated this Tuesday.
The offices launch the ‘With You’ program, with which the company, which manages the water supply and sewage service of the municipality of Cartagena, wants to facilitate the procedures related to these services for the elderly and vulnerable. The hallmarks of this initiative are “digitization, accessibility and closeness to the most vulnerable groups,” according to the manager of Hidrogea in Cartagena, Andrés Martínez.
Regarding the figures for face-to-face care, Martínez acknowledged that the pandemic represented a change in trends. «Before the health crisis, consultations in the offices were 90%. The remaining 10% was for virtual consultations. Now we are turning those numbers around and getting back to normal.”
The purpose is that no doubt remains unresolved. And that all clients receive “direct, personalized attention and without communication barriers” in their different efforts.

Hidrogea, a company belonging to the Agbar group, has expanded service channels “in more than fifteen languages and in sign language at the office, by video call or by phone by appointment. We also solve doubts and procedures through the Whatsapp application, at the telephone number 686 176 707, “said company sources.
Integration and accessibility
The president of the Agbar group, Ángel Simón, described the opening of these offices as a “milestone”, which affects the integration of Hidrogea in Cartagena and the way of relating to customers.
Hidrogea has rehabilitated and restored the basement of the Casa Dorda building, which was closed and in disuse, facilitating its accessibility. Huma Arquitectura has carried out the project, in which they have respected the original spirit of the emblematic building.
In the work carried out, the company has recovered three original elements, using non-invasive procedures: masonry, brick and tabaire stone. The latter is a calcarenite extracted from the Roman quarries of Cartagena. The ribbed vaults of the interior façade have also been strengthened and the morphology of the old cloister has been preserved.
The new elements incorporated have been aluminum sheet and terrazzo floor made ‘in situ’. In addition, the cloister area includes terracotta ceramic tiles brought from Morocco to preserve the essence of the space. On the façade, the curtains of water on the windows stand out. Finally, the technicians have simulated natural light inside with glass patios and greenery to create a light and airy environment.
The mayoress of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, stated at the inauguration that “these offices will improve the municipal service.”
After the visit to the facilities, Hidrogea held a round table with the participation of the president of Cartagena for Charity, Matías Barco, the manager of MGM Construcciones, Fernando Zaplana, and the municipal archaeologist and president of Autismo Somos Todos, María José Madrid.
