Hezbollah Claims Overnight Rocket Attacks on Israeli Airport and Air Base
The Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah said it had struck an airport and airbase in Israel. The group called the attack a retaliatory measure to protect Lebanon and its people. The Israel Defense Forces, for its part, reported sounding air raid sirens.
Hezbollah Claims Fadi-1, Fadi-2 Rocket Strikes
How reports Al Jazeera, citing a statement from the group, said Hezbollah attacked the Megiddo military airport in northern Israel and the Ramat David air base of the IDF. In addition, according to the movement, an explosives manufacturing facility in the Zichron region, 60 kilometers from the border, was hit.
The rockets used in the attack were said to be Fadi-1 and Fadi-2. According to an Al Jazeera correspondent, the rockets were launched from southern Lebanon. Hezbollah called the strikes on Israel a measure to protect the people of Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Forces launched three strikes on the night of September 24 reported about air raid sirens sounding in the northern part of the country, where the country borders Lebanon.
IDF announces offensive operation in Lebanon
On Monday, September 23, IDF Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevy stated about the start of a “preemptive offensive operation” against Hezbollah.
“The IDF is currently carrying out massive strikes against terrorist targets belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon. Details will be released later,” the statement said. According to Halevy, Israel will soon move on to “the next phases,” but no further details were provided.
