At least 11 people were injured, one of them in critical condition, after a drone attack claimed by the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah in the city of Hurfeish, in northern Israel, this Wednesday (5).
The Magen David Adom emergency service confirmed to EFE that among the injured, one person was unconscious and the rest were moderately and mildly affected.
The army confirmed it had identified “several launches from Lebanon” toward Hurfeish, and said it was investigating why anti-aircraft alarms did not sound.
Hezbollah, in turn, said that the attack was a response to what it classified as “aggressions and murders” by Israel this Tuesday (4) in the city of Naqoura, in southern Lebanon, where an attack attributed to Israeli forces allegedly killed a fighter from the group.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog referred to the incident in Hurfeish this Wednesday in a speech marking Jerusalem Day, which celebrates the annexation of the east of the city – considered a reunification, according to Israel – after the 1967 war. .
“From here on, I send a prayer for the speedy and complete recovery of those injured in this arson attack,” Herzog said.
The attack occurs at a time of maximum tension on the northern border, where Israeli air defense also intercepted a drone this Wednesday in the Metula area, a location where at least a thousand hectares were devastated by fires caused by projectiles from the Lebanese terrorist group.
The Israeli government authorized the mobilization of 50,000 additional reservists due to increased tension on the border with Lebanon, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned today that the country is prepared “for extremely strong action” against Hezbollah.
Israel, in response to Hezbollah’s attacks, has bombed the terrorist group’s military infrastructure – which is supported by Iran – daily since October last year and launched attacks against its ranks. In the last week alone, the group confirmed eight victims.
In total, more than 440 people have died in these eight months in clashes on both sides of the divide, the majority on the Lebanese side and in the ranks of Hezbollah, which has confirmed around 300 victims of extremist militias, some in Syria. In Israel, 23 people died in the north, ten of them civilians. (With EFE Agency)
