How long did it take to develop Astro Bot? Nicolas Doucet, Head of Team Asobi, revealed this in an interview for a post just published on the PlayStation Blog, designed to celebrate the game’s launch.
Lately we are used to talking about very long development cycles for AAAswhich often go well beyond 5 years and in some cases easily reach 8 years. Take for example the recent Concord by Firewalk Studios, which required exactly eight years of development, or Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League by Rocksteady, also the result of a similar development cycle.
So soon?
We didn’t mention two such unsuccessful titles by chance, because, instead, Astro Bot was developed in just three years (we don’t know if it’s net of pre-production or not) and it risks being a hugely successful game. At least for now it already is at a critical level, considering that it has the highest average rating of 2024.
“We’ve spent three years creating Astro Bot, both for long-time PlayStation fans and new players,” Doucet explained, continuing, “so take your time and enjoy every element of the game. We’ve also hidden a lot of secrets and surprises, so have fun exploring and discovering them all!”
For the rest, we remind you that Astro Bot is an exclusive title for PlayStation 5. We do not know if it will be released on other platforms in the future, such as PC. If you are interested in knowing more, read our review.
