Wednesday the first of the Frenchman with the world champion jersey: “I love Italy and its races”. Pogacar, Nibali and Roglic the other stars
Tomorrow a stellar Milan-Turin. The RCS Sport-Gazzetta race is the oldest classic: it was born in 1876 and on Wednesday celebrates the 102nd edition in the best possible way. Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe will make his debut with the world championship jersey he regained in Leuven on 26 September. “After the World Championship I was very tired – said the 29-year-old from Deceuninck Quick-Step – and I took a few days off. I took the opportunity to spend some time with my family and recharge the batteries. Now I feel good and aim for a great season finale. In Italy I always like to run, I really like the races and the atmosphere that is created around it, as well as of course the food. Our team is very strong and between Milan-Turin and Lombardy we hope to do something good. The Roubaix? It doesn’t inspire me very much, I think on Sunday I was lucky to watch it on TV and not suffer like my other colleagues ”.
