A few hours after the launch of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 we see how the production of Xbox Game Studios is important in many respects.
We have finally reached the eve of the launch of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, one of the titles of greatest interest from Xbox Game Studios, destined to kick off a season of releases that seems to be decidedly rich as far as Microsoft’s first parties are concerned. We would have liked to see the game arrive in a generally more serene climate, but the bizarre and inscrutable timing of communications from the Redmond house meant that the launch of what could be the maximum expression of Ninja Theory was somehow clouded, at least in the discussions taking place in the most specialized areas regarding video games, from the recent news on the closures of internal teams and the nebulous prospects on the future of Microsoft’s video game division, at least as regards its classic conformation.
For this reason it could be said that Senua is about to face a complex challenge on different levels, also going beyond the boundaries of her tormented world, which is already characterized by different levels, between internal conflicts and physical battles. For this reason, the waiting period has already darkened for some, between concerns about the lack of promotion and marketing carried out to support the launch and “accurate” projections on the possible sales of the game, but everything is probably comparable above all to the classic concern trollingin most cases. Meanwhile, the wonderful launch trailer released today demonstrates, if nothing else, how challenging it is to achieve new technological goals was definitely won: Hellblade 2 really seems like a show in some ways never seen before.
There are some fears, but not so much about the quality of the game
If the gameplay confirms what we saw in the first chapter, we will still find ourselves faced with a game of great interest for everyone, considering how Senua’s first adventure was already received, so we have few doubts about the quality intrinsic to the game. Of course, it is true that we are quite far from the advertising hype that we have seen in other cases and this may suggest a certain lack of attention, but it must also be said that it is a title that has been talked about for several years now, initially presented as the herald of the new generation of Xbox on the same evening that the Xbox Series The fact remains that, outside the USA, communication regarding Xbox is always somewhat muffled, while the competition makes itself felt strongly everywhere, and this is an element that Microsoft should probably work on.
Another issue is always the recent closure of Tango GameWorks, which hovers like a ghost over Hellblade 2, as threatening as Zynbel for Senua: it is an event that has somewhat upset the evaluation parameters of Microsoft’s work and re-emerges in this case because Ninja Theory’s title has several aspects in common with Hi-Fi Rush. In fact, it is a title deriving from a smaller and rather niche production, which aims for notable quality and possibly good critical reviews but which may not make a decisive breakthrough on the market. Until some time ago one might have thought that projects of this type were still functional or even indispensable for Game Pass, but recent events have somewhat upset these beliefs, so a bit of fear about the final outcome of the challenge of Senua is justified. But in the meantime, let’s set our sights on 10:00 tomorrow morning, May 21st, to finally start the new adventure of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.
