Helbiz has announced a partnership with Ghost, the latest generation mapping company, to integrate its advanced parking technology into the Helbiz app. Fantasmo’s Camera Positioning Standard (CPS) technology is able to identify the exact position of the scooters and validate their parking with a tolerance of less than 20 cm, thus ensuring safety for users, pedestrians and all citizens.
To park the scooter, users will have to scan the QR code with the camera of their smartphone, which will send Helbiz a notification with the exact location of the device and will be able to indicate whether or not it is parked in the designated areas of the city. Compared to GPS technology, CPS technology does not require infrastructure such as satellites, beacons or radios to function, but only a data connection and a camera to obtain the precise location and mapping of each device. The integration will initially concern, as a pilot project, the fleet present in Florida, in Miami, and will then extend to other cities internationally.
“We are committed to educating our users on proper parking of our vehicles, as well as advanced security measures and this collaboration with Fantasmo takes our efforts to the next level”, he has declared Vivian Myrtetus, Head of Partnerships & Policy at Helbiz. “With the use of Fantasmo’s CPS technology, we can offer users the necessary technology to use our scooters safely and responsibly”. James Detweiler, Co-founder of Fantasmo he added: “We are thrilled to work with Helbiz to spread our CPS technology and ensure a safer parking system for scooters, ensuring a better experience for everyone. After spending some time in Miami, it is clear to us that the city itself, as well as the parking authorities, are committed to offering the safest of micromobility programs. Fantasmo is proud to work alongside Helbiz in the city of Miami “.
