Dealing with healthcare and health at 360 degrees, being involved even outside the walls of your own hospital and treatment facilities. It is with this approach that Korian Italia – ‘health network’, a unique model in Italy and part of the European Clariane Group – presents the first Impact Report. “Which for us represents, beyond the regulatory obligation, a fundamental means to continue to improve, define future strategies and to strengthen the relationship of trust towards all stakeholders, including patients and families, employees and collaborators, communities local and institutions – states Federico Guidoni, president and CEO of Korian Italia – The Impact Report tells our way of doing business, moreover, it becomes a concrete commitment to combine our daily activity with growing social and environmental responsibility. also thanks to the commitment of all Korian employees and collaborators. This step fits perfectly into the mission that has always been part of our DNA: the interest we must have must also look at the lifestyles of our staff and must try to broaden to the communities towards which our activities are developed”.
Improving health and quality of life is one of the priority common benefit objectives for Korian – reports a note – The company measured its impact in this area thanks to a customer satisfaction survey to which 11 thousand people responded, including patients, guests and families. The results show a high propensity to recommend Korian, a high degree of satisfaction with the services as a whole and a high perception of how much patients and caregivers feel considered and respected. This also gives rise to the strong commitment to spreading Positive Care – a methodological and behavioral approach that aims to find a personalized care and assistance path for each patient – in 42 RSAs out of 66 as of 31 December 2023, with the aim of extending it to all social and healthcare structures and start implementation in healthcare facilities.
Korian promotes an inclusive and growth-oriented work environment, with an average employee tenure of 11 years and European Top Employer certification. According to the 2023 climate survey – the note details – 83% of workers declare themselves satisfied with their jobs, 82% do not plan to leave the company in the next 2 years and many employees recommend Korian as an employer. Furthermore, the commitment to continuous staff training is strong, with over 50 thousand hours of courses provided to 5,034 employees through the Korian Academy, also through 16 qualifying courses for upskilling. With an eye always turned outward: Korian, in fact, also supports the training of external professionals, with 117 qualifying certificates and over 13,600 ECM credits awarded, with the aim of contributing to reducing the shortage of key figures in the social and healthcare sector. Furthermore, the company has always stood out for its strong commitment to women and gender policies – through its Korian Women’s Club and partnership with DiRE and Fondazione Onda – which earned it the international StandoutWomanAward in November 2023 2023 in the Sustainable & Friendly Company section.
Korian – we read in the note – in 2023 generated 140 million euros of related activities with suppliers, of which 90% were local companies close to the territory and attentive to sustainability. The company then promoted awareness-raising activities on health issues and organized 400 cultural and social initiatives locally in collaboration with non-profit associations, schools, universities and institutions. At an environmental level, Korian has launched a multi-year plan to reduce its impact and preserve biodiversity, setting the objective of cutting CO2 emissions linked to energy consumption by 40% by 2030, compared to 2019 levels. In 2023, 3,500 tonnes of CO2 have already been avoided, and it is expected that, by the end of the year, the total will reach 5,000 tonnes thanks to energy efficiency, savings and the use of renewable sources.
Finally, the contribution to promoting innovation and research is strong. The company constantly develops new medical and organizational practices, develops cutting-edge technologies and shares the knowledge acquired with the scientific community. Two examples: the award received at the Lean Healthcare Awards and the collaboration with the startup MBility.
“The Impact Report aims to be an honest and detailed account of our way of doing business, further cultivating the relationship of trust, transparency and collaboration with our patients, guests and partners, involving them directly in the evaluation of our results – concludes Barbara Grill , responsible for the impact of Korian Italia – Our goal is to identify areas for improvement for the years to come, sharing them openly with those who are ready to help us realize them”.
