The Ministry of Health and Community Protection has warned against the Accu-Chek Performa test strips, which are used to check blood sugar, due to the possibility of the test strips being in open boxes, which may cause unexpected false results.
The ministry indicated, in a circular, that the manufacturer reported the possibility of this error occurring in “very rare” cases, explaining that the product is registered with it, and side effects can be reported through the specified means of communication.
The ministry recommended checking test strip boxes before use, and not using test strips in cases “if the box was open when the test strips were used for the first time, or if the lid was not completely closed.”
According to the circular, it is requested not to use the test strips, in the event that any damage to the lid or box, or anything that prevents the lid from closing, is detected.
The ministry stressed the need not to use the affected products, and to communicate with the manufacturer to replace them.
