Since the first outbreak of Covid-19 in Wuhan in early 2020, China has applied a strict virus elimination doctrine: closed borders, mass isolations, widespread testing. This strategy, far removed from the approach of most Western countries, helped the Asian giant to keep the pandemic at bay. However, multiple outbreaks driven by the Ómicron variant could call this strategy into question.
