The number of health plan users in Brazil grew by more than 100,000 from July 2022 to August of the same year. The data are from the ANS (National Agency for Supplementary Health) and were released this Wednesday (5.Oct.2022).
According to the Agency, 112,053 more Brazilians than in July contracted medical-hospital health plans in August alone. The exclusively dental plans gained 312,871 more users during the same period.
In an annual comparison, from August 2021 to August 2022, ANS pointed out that the greatest growth was in relation to dental health programs, with an increase of 8.33%. A total of 2,335,469 beneficiaries were added during the 12-month period.
The ANS also recorded that 26 states had an increase in the number of users of exclusively dental plans in this period. São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Paraná were those with the greatest absolute gain in beneficiaries.
Among medical-hospital plans, the growth was 3.27%, that is, 1,579,034 more users between August 2021 and 2022.
In the case of medical assistance programs, 25 states showed a gain in beneficiaries. São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais were the federative units that, in absolute numbers, most adhered to this type of plan.
Brazil currently has more than 49 million health plan beneficiaries, according to data from the National Supplementary Health Agency.
