“The costs are mainly linked to drugs: 75% of the cost of a patient diagnosed at an advanced stage is related to the use of drugs such as immunotherapy or precision drugs. We arrive at an average annual cost of around 52-55 thousand euros, just for drugs to which all the expenses relating to palliative care, the commitment of people and human resources must be added”. Thus, Silvia Novello, professor of Medical Oncology – University of Turin and president of Walce, on the sidelines of the institutional initiative ‘The lung at the center of prevention: an Italian reality’, on the occasion of the ‘World Anti-Tobacco Day’, at the Ministry of Health, a moment of awareness and discussion between the main institutional, clinical and patient association stakeholders to address issues related to primary and secondary prevention activities.
