Over 140 thousand: many people in Italy live with multiple sclerosis, one of the most common and serious chronic diseases of the central nervous system, the leading cause of neurological disability in young adults. The is dedicated to all of them Information and awareness week promoted by the Italian Multiple Sclerosis Association (Aism) and under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic. The scheduled events will culminate today, May 30, when, in 70 countries around the world, the World MS Day, World Multiple Sclerosis Day. On this occasion, Italy will be colored red in a blaze of lights that will light up the country’s main monuments. Even institutional buildings such as Palazzo Chigi, Palazzo Madama and Montecitorio will be lit up in red, from sunset tonight until dawn on Friday 31 May.
But there will be many other monuments dressed in red throughout Italy, starting from the city of Genoa which, home of Aism, kicked off the 2024 edition of the National Week. The main city square, De Ferrari, will be painted red and the LED wall of the Palazzo della Regione behind it will be illuminated. Not only that, thanks to the new memorandum of understanding signed by Aism with the Mu.Ma of Genoa, the city lantern will also light up in red, creating an evocative play of colours, visible from the sea and the city. The same can be said for the city of Pavia which will light up the imposing statue of Minerva and the civic museums of the Visconti Castle. From North to South of the country, there are 160 monuments that will embrace each other in a virtual embrace of community and sharing.
