“Never as in the last two years has the centrality of health been understood with respect to all other aspects of our daily life. Objectively, we cannot think of any type of socio-economic activity without considering how important is good health understood as absence. of illness but, above all, as the achievement of a state of psycho-physical well-being thanks to which one can live one’s daily life in the most effective way possible. This is one of the key points of the NRP “. Thus Angela Ianaro, member of the 5-star Movement in the Social Affairs Committee, in her speech at the workshop “One Health in all policies – The role of supply chains. Innovation and partnership for the health and economic and social future of the country ”, the initiative promoted and organized by the De Gasperi Foundation.
The aim of the meeting is to promote transversal synergies capable of generating a significant impact for the development of the country. Synergies that can be achieved – emerged from the debate – only by exploiting the lever of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which provides for integrated and sustainable actions linked to the main Italian health, agri-food, mobility and sustainable transport chains. From the position paper it is clear that these are the supply chains that can be characterized as the industrial fabric on which to build the basis for the sustainable and social development of the country system. The document also identifies some actions to implement development policies aimed at integrated supply chains, in order to generate economic, social and health impact value in a One Health perspective, which aims to combine the person and well-being with economic development, protection social and innovation.
The meeting to present the project, created in collaboration with Philip Morris Italy, was attended by: Pietro Fiocchi, MEP of the Brothers of Italy, Beca commission of the European Parliament and Pasquale Chiarelli, general manager of the Santa Maria di Terni hospital and vice president of Fiaso (Italian Federation of Healthcare and Hospital Companies).
According to Ianaro, the holistic approach of One Health in all policies “is very important. The pandemic – underlined the parliamentarian – has highlighted the central role of health but also, and above all, how essential it is to prepare for adversity. unfortunately, we have neglected aspects that inevitably today we find ourselves having to face in an emergency situation. Antibiotic resistance, for example, is one of the great concerns at European and global level: the next pandemic will be bacterial and we will not have the tools suitable to face it. Yet, there were all the indications to be able to counter this type of adversity, we must absolutely implement a series of actions that are on the agenda “.
For the M5S parliamentarian, “the lack of territorial medicine that acts as a hinge between the patient’s home and the hospital is another critical issue that the health emergency has highlighted. answer. An answer that must not only be economic, however, because it is necessary to face the problems with the right determination and the right perspective. A change of vision is necessary: a State that wants to be far-sighted and look to the future in a unified manner and with a holistic approach One Health cannot help but see how investments in research and innovation play a central role “, concluded Ianaro.
