“The European Commission has declared and affirmed that cancer is an epidemic. This is why he decided to launch the Mission On Cancer, which is based on three pillars: preventing everything predictable, optimizing treatment and quality of life. We, as a patient association, believe that screening represents the best way to reduce the burden of disease and therefore to reduce healthcare spending.” With these declarations, Francesco De Lorenzo, president of the Italian Federation of voluntary associations in oncology – Favo and the Italian Association of cancer patients – Aimac, spoke on the sidelines of the institutional initiative ‘The lung at the center of prevention: an Italian reality’, in occasion of the ‘World No Tobacco Day’, at the Ministry of Health, a moment of awareness and discussion between the main institutional, clinical and patient association stakeholders to address issues related to primary and secondary prevention activities.
