Health workers from the Emergency Service treated a 37-year-old man this Sunday, who was seriously injured after jumping into the waters of the Segura River, in the municipality of Blanca. A call to the 112 switchboard reported the incident, which occurred on a bridge on the Abarán highway, at 3:30 p.m.
The wounded man had a head injury and after initial assistance ‘in situ’ he was evacuated to the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital, in the Murcian capital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). According to a first medical report, he suffers a serious head injury.
The event mobilized a wide deployment of troops. In addition to an EMU from the Emergency Management, a patrol from the Civil Guard, agents from the Local Police and Civil Protection from the Ricote Valley traveled to the place. Also an endowment of the Consortium of Fire Extinction and Rescue of the Region (CEIS), with three firefighters and a vehicle, although these ultimately did not have to intervene. According to information provided by 112, the wounded man was bathing with a group of friends when he jumped into the river.
