A 37-year-old woman was injured after her vehicle collided head-on with a high-voltage electrical tower. The incident occurred around eight in the morning on the road that connects Yecla with the Alicante town of Sax. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of her car and collided with a tower.
The accident occurred less than two kilometers from the town of Yecla. The strong impact of the car against the metal structure caused the turret to fall and the driver to be trapped inside the car. The collision also caused a small fire in the area, which was extinguished by firefighters, while technicians from the electrical company cut off the supply, since due to the accident “sparks were flying from the cables of the electrical structure”, they explain from Emergencies 112.
Police from the Yecla park went to the place, and were able to rescue the driver and a dog that was traveling with her from inside the car. The injured woman was stabilized by the health workers and transferred to the Virgen del Castillo de Yecla hospital.
For their part, technicians from the electricity company are working to restore the electricity supply to affected homes and businesses between the Sax road and the Pinoso road. Members of the Local Police, the Civil Guard and 061 also participated in the response to the incident.
