The Guardia di Finanza of Savona has seized 10 cars and 45 luxury and vintage motorbikes in execution of an order of the investigating judge requested by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. The vehicles, worth 750 thousand euros, were registered in the name of a non-European company, but in the possession of a person who lived permanently in Italy despite having a fictitious residence in a South American country. According to investigators, the owner of the vehicles would have brought them to Italy without paying border duties and would have evaded over 250,000 euros in customs duties and VAT. The man was sued for aggravated smuggling.
