Streaming platform HBO Max plans to create at least two more animated series based on Game of Thrones. This was reported on Friday, July 16, by the magazine The hollywood reporter…
The publication also recalled that HBO Max in January of this year has already announced the development of one animation project.
It is noted that the action of one of the three series will unfold in territory that was never shown in the original series: in the Golden Empire of I Ti, located on the continent of Essos, near the southeastern borders of the known world. The state is only briefly mentioned in Game of Thrones, although the character of the upcoming HBO prequel, House of the Dragon, Lord Corlis Velarion – “The Sea Serpent”, is known to have sailed to IT.
Yi Ti is considered one of the oldest and most advanced societies in the vast fantasy kingdom. Writer George Martin was inspired to create it by imperial China (like Westeros, which was the main scene of Game of Thrones, was written following the example of medieval Europe – Ed.).
At HBO, Max has yet to comment on two new animation projects. The streamer is expanding its line of adult animations altogether, and has recently been approved for the launch of an animated series about Batman from producers J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves.
At the end of March, it became known that the American writer, author of the cycle “A Song of Ice and Fire”, on which the series “Game of Thrones” was filmed, George Martin signed a contract with the streaming service HBO Max for a period of five years.
The HBO series Game of Thrones ended in 2019. In the same year, the TV channel announced his prequel “House of the Dragon” based on George Martin’s book “Fire and Blood”, which will focus on events 300 years before the events in “Game of Thrones”. In December 2020, WarnerMedia CEO Jason Keeler announced that House of the Dragon would begin filming in the coming months. The prequel is expected to have 10 episodes.
