ANDhe New Zealander Harry Hillier managed the advantage he gained on the second day and reaches the last day of the Inter Rapidísimo Golf Championship as the only leader, with five shots ahead of the second.
The tournament, which is played at the El Rincón de Cajicá club, closes the ‘Latin swing’ of the PGA Tour Américas, a series of six tournaments on Latin American soil before the second half of the season is played in Canada. The first two in the Fortinet Cup secure a conditional card for the Korn Ferry Tour in 2025.
Hillier is very close to winning one of those two spots, thanks to a solid game that was highlighted with a field record on Friday, 62 hits, and with a good card this Saturday, 68 hits (-4). He accumulates 195 hits (-21). His guard, the Englishman James Swash, remained at the same difference with which he started the round.
Three Latin Americans are among the top ten of the tournament. The Argentine Julián Etulain and the Chilean Agustín Errázuriz share the fifth place, nine strokes behind Hillier, while the also gaucho Abel Gallegos, champion of the Latin America Amateur Championship in 2020, closes the Top 10, 10 strokes from the lead.
“It was a pretty difficult day, the truth is I didn’t hit the ball well, I managed to make a couple of good birdies on 15 and 16 and I’m happy that I was able to carry out a difficult round for me,” said Celia.
The tournament, which awards a purse of 225 thousand dollars, 40 thousand for the champion, will end this Sunday. The last group, with Hillier, Swash and the third of the tournament, the American Blake Tomlinson, will take the field at 10:50 in the morning.
