Washington.- Vice President Kamala Harris is planning a four-day campaign tour through key swing states following Tuesday’s debate between the Democrat and Republican Donald Trump.
His “New Way Forward” tour will include a new television ad, rallies, canvassing events and programs designed to target key constituencies, the campaign said Sunday, adding that the tour will culminate at the start of Hispanic Heritage Month on Sept. 15.
In a tight race against the former president, Harris’s campaign believes it has room to persuade voters before focusing more intently on turnout with the start of early voting ahead of the Nov. 5 election. Trump has also stepped up his outreach with rallies and interviews at seemingly friendly forums. The post-debate period in Philadelphia marks the start of an intense race to the end of what has been a dramatic contest.
“Our campaign will take the Vice President’s message directly to voters wherever they are,” said Michael Tyler, the campaign’s communications director.
“With so much at stake in this election, we must bring our all on the battlefield.” Trump, who campaigned Saturday in Wisconsin, posted on social media that “when” he wins, anyone who believes he has been “engaged in unscrupulous behavior” related to the election “will be sought out, captured and prosecuted at levels sadly never before seen in our country.” After the debate, political leaders on Wednesday will mark the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Harris begins her tour Thursday in North Carolina, and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, will be in Michigan. On Friday, Harris will return to Pennsylvania, while Walz will be in Michigan and Wisconsin.
