DOHA (Reuters) – Seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton won the Qatar Grand Prix for Mercedes this Sunday, reducing Max Verstappen’s overall Formula 1 lead to 8 points, with just two races remaining.
Red Bull’s Verstappen took second after starting in seventh after suffering a five-place drop penalty on the grid for failing to respect warning flags in Saturday’s qualifying, but earning a bonus point for having the fastest lap.
Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, from Alpine, took third place, the 40-year-old Spaniard’s first podium since 2014.
