Hamas spokesman Shanaa: agreement must begin with ceasefire
The leadership of the Hamas movement does not see any point in negotiations on the exchange of prisoners until there is a complete ceasefire and the withdrawal of the Israeli military from Gaza. A representative of the political leadership of Hamas in Lebanon, Ayman Shanaa, spoke about this, writes RIA Novosti.
“Any agreement must begin with a complete and immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza. Until then, there is no point in talking about a prisoner exchange deal,” he said.
According to the agency’s interlocutor, Hamas was ready for a ceasefire, but due to the position of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the negotiations were unsuccessful.
Earlier, a member of the European Parliament from the far-right Polish Confederation party, Grzegorz Braun, called for Israel to be declared a terrorist state. According to him, Israel has occupied Gaza for a long time, and its officials call Palestinians animals and non-humans.
On the night of October 7-8, it became known that the head of the Politburo of the Palestinian organization Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, got in touch after a long silence. It was noted that Sinwar has not changed his position on the issue of the Israeli hostage deal.
