343 Industries has revealed what lies ahead in Halo Infinite competitive multiplayer.
After the second tech preview of Halo Infinite, the developer 343 Industries provided a comprehensive overview of what lies ahead in competitive and ranked multiplayer. Just like other Halos, Infinite is expected to be a prominent FPS title in the competitive gaming scene when it launches in December.
Halo Infinite’s Competitive and Ranked settings were revealed in a live stream uploaded to Halo’s YouTube channel yesterday, Oct. 14, with analytics from Andy “Bravo” Dudynsky, member of the 343 Competitive Insights team Visal “El Town” Mohanan and the lead multiplayer designer Andrew Witts . Further details have been outlined on Halo Waypoint.
In competitive multiplayer, you will only start with the Battle Rifle, without any secondary weapons, friendly fire will be enabled, there will be no motion detector and more, as you can see in the video below.
During the livestream, the trio discussed the philosophy behind competitive multiplayer versus Strongholds gameplay. And while Strongholds from Halo 5: Guardians will return, 343 has made some changes that will benefit competitive play. This time, a team can only accumulate points if they fully control the two zones. Any interruption of a team’s control over one of the captured zones interrupts the scoring.
Carnage Reports after matches also include damage taken, a useful metric for competitive teams, and announcers that analyze the overall performance and contributions of different players. Modes announced so far for ranked multiplayer include Slayer, Capture the Flag, Strongholds, and Oddball.
