Apparently Microsoft has started work on one new remastered edition of Halo: Combat Evolved, the first historic chapter of the series. Furthermore, there would also be a PS5 versionin honor of its new multiplatform strategy.
The information was reported by journalist Tom Warren, usually very knowledgeable about Microsoft and 343 Industries, who was then picked up by the whistleblower Tom Henderson. The news should not be taken for granted, but at least something is moving behind the scenes for the Halo series.
Starting over from Combat Evolved?
According to what Warren reported, Microsoft is planning other conversions for platforms other than Xbox. The expansion project would also have a real name: Project Latitude. According to Warren, however, Fable, Gears 6 and South of Midnight are not planned for other platforms, while the next Doom, called Doom: The Dark Ages, is.
Even in these cases, there is no official confirmation, so take everything with due caution. We also remind you that the first Halo has already been remastered as Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, and then included in the Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
Could this be the definitive turning point for Xbox? That is, bringing its most iconic and representative series to other platforms? At this stage it is difficult to make predictions, given that Microsoft has become difficult to predict, but seeing Halo running on PS5 would represent the definitive turning point for the ecosystem, which would increasingly appear gnostic with respect to concepts such as exclusives or other things. We’ll see how the situation evolves.
